Where our United Kingdom (Great Britain) rules come from.

Pet must have an ISO 11784/11785 compliant 15-digit microchip. If non-ISO chip and unreadable, an ISO chip must be implanted in addition (both numbers + dates on cert).

If missed: Pre-microchip rabies vaccine is invalid; pet may be denied entry or held in quarantine at owner's expense.

Rabies vaccine administered by an authorized veterinarian, AFTER microchip implantation.

If missed: Pet may be revaccinated and held in quarantine during the applicable immunity period at owner's expense.

Non-commercial UK Health Certificate issued by USDA Accredited Vet (or Military Vet).

Commercial UK Health Certificate (GBHC640) — required when non-commercial criteria not met.

APHIS Veterinary Services Endorsement Office counter-signs and embosses the health certificate. Original ink endorsement REQUIRED — electronic not accepted at this stage.

USDA Accredited Vet administers tapeworm treatment effective against Echinococcus multilocularis. Praziquantel recommended as active ingredient.

If missed: Pet may be refused entry or quarantined at owner's expense.

Pet bird confined under USDA Accredited Vet supervision for at least 30 days prior to departure, no contact with other birds.

Avian Influenza H5 and H7 vaccination — NOT AVAILABLE for US-origin pet birds (US pet birds are not vaccinated for AI).

10-day pre-departure isolation + AI H5/H7 test (cloacal + oropharyngeal swab at NVSL or NAHLN lab, at least 3 days after isolation start).

30-day post-arrival quarantine in approved UK quarantine facility. Arrangements must be made in advance.

Bird must be moved to household or residence in UK. No shows, fairs, exhibitions, or gatherings of birds for 30 days after entry.
